Typically you can find the shutoff valve for your irrigation system in your basement or utility area. For a city system (city water) it is usually found between the water meter and hot water tank, on the cold water line. The valve handle must be in line with the pipe for the water to be turned on to your system, or perpendicular to the pipe to shut the water off.
